Dr. Korman

Our team leader is a board-certified surgeon trained and experienced in Laparoscopic weight loss surgery. Other physicians involved in your care and treatment plan may include your primary care physician and medical specialist.

Our Staff

Our professional staff is specifically trained to treat the unique problems and challenges of surgical weight loss patients. In recognition of the fact that no two patients have the same medical or psycho-social needs, our treatment team develops an individualized treatment plan for you.

Working closely with you, they will guide and support your progress toward both your short-and long-range goals. We encourage you to use the services of these professionals as long as you wish to remain in the program. Members of our team include:

Nurse Coordinator

Our nurse coordinator will guide you through your preoperative testing and education, as well as provide continuing support for you and your family throughout the process. During your stay with us, she will visit you daily to help ensure your medical and comfort needs are being met. When you return home, she will be available to answer any questions and direct medical concerns to your surgeon.

Nurse

Patients undergoing surgery for clinical obesity have special care needs. For this reason, nursing, and other clinical care, is provided by nurses and technologists experienced in caring for surgical weight loss patients. These professionals are familiar with the unique needs of the clinically obese patient and make every effort to meet those needs.

Dietitian

The Registered Dietitian will see you on your preoperative visit. She will visit you in the hospital to ensure your diet needs are met and will also be available postoperative for your dietary concerns. Nutrition and control of negative eating behaviors are very important to weight loss success after weight loss surgery. The surgery will require changes in your eating habits. Nutritional guidelines are included in your "Owner's Manual".

Clinical Social Worker

The clinical social worker will see you on your preoperative visit and during your hospital stay to provide emotional support-to help you explore your feelings about the surgery and your expected weight loss. She will be available after surgery to see you individually or to provide referrals to other agencies should you be interested in further support on an individual basis.

Physical Therapist

The Registered Physical Therapist will see you on the day of surgery. She will provide instructions for ambulation and exercise post-operatively. Early ambulation and regular exercise are key components of your post-surgery program. Our physical therapist will provide you with instructions on how to maintain a safe and regular exercise program tailored to your individual needs.
