The LA Bariatric Center offers one-on-one sessions dealing with issues related to wellness and your well-being. The Wellness Program not only helps patients achieve their weight loss goals, it ensures they sustain them by teaching patients to discard old habits and move toward a healthy lifestyle. The sessions can cover the following subjects, among others:

  • Healthful cooking: properly prepared meals and whole food recipes
  • Pantry clean-up: extra help parting with processed foods
  • Super market and farmer’s market tours
  • Exercise for weight loss, including walking
  • Managing stress: including yoga

Ann Rosen is the Wellness Coach for LA Bariatrics Center. At our Los Angeles weight loss center, she coaches weight loss surgery patients so that they can successfully attain a healthy weight and lead a rewarding lifestyle.

Perspective from the Wellness Coordinator

My philosophy on weight loss is that it should involve a positive life-style change and should not involve starvation. Starvation diets do not work and this is supported by scientific evidence. Instead, good health and weight-loss can only be achieved by eating whole, natural foods that are combined in the proper proportions that must be determined by each individual’s dietary needs. Dieting isn’t a one- size fit all endeavor and everyone is different. Physical activity is also a key part of a healthy life-style and weight management.

I have always loved to cook and I have found great joy in nourishing people close to me with wonderful, traditional, and home made food. Nutritional guidelines recommended by government agencies have certainly been evolving over the past 40 years and I have been increasingly interested in all the newest science regarding healthful diets. I love Southern California’s Farmer Markets and the whole food movement that embraces our community. After engaging with the local farmers and seeking out current knowledge about ideal foods, I am convinced that the best diet is one that consists of organic, seasonal, and local, ingredients that are properly prepared, preferably made at home. However, I believe a persons’ specific nutritional needs are individual, what may be the perfect diet for one person may not translate at all to another.

Movement is also a main ingredient in my life. I have been practicing yoga for the past 15 years. Also, I love hiking through the mountains, swimming, biking, and running. A meditation practice has become an essential part of my daily routine. I find it helps with stress and over-all wellbeing. I believe that everyone must feed themselves with experiences and new knowledge.

Self-care helps us to be our best and can make and improve our quality of life. As you can see, food and health have been my passion and I look forward to sharing my knowledge.
